Experimental and Mathematical Studies for Optimality of GTAW Parameters on Similar and Dissimilar Steel Substrates

Argon arc welding is a frequently used process, to assist various manufacturing processes. The paper highlights the postweld experimental results of similar (EN 10025 Steel-Grade S295) and dissimilar (D36 shipbuilding steel) materials, which possess wide range applications in industries. In this work, studies are carried out for optimality gas tungsten (GTAW) parameters on butt joint with single double V 45° groove angles using Taguchi orthogonal L9 array design. back hand technique, filler rod taken as ER303L obtain finer welded joints. After weld, residual stresses, microhardness, geometrical properties weld studied at varied zones, that is, zone, HAZ, base metal examine efficiency specific predefined parameters. Furthermore, tensile tests weldments optimal parameters, subsequently, specimens better strength discussed results. Genetic algorithm mathematical modelling opted selecting final As per obtained hardness, tests, projected have more effective joint.
